Kenneth Allen Winters

DOVER - Kenneth Allen Winters passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 at home.
Mr. Winters was born June 21, 1939 in Washington, D.C. to the late Kenneth Alton Winters and Agnes Griffen Winters.
He was a Washington D.C. police officer Lt. in the Homicide Division, retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. Mr. Winters enjoyed poker tournaments, traveling and going on cruises with his retirement center friends. He had played football in high school and enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Kenneth "Ricky" Winters; daughter, Karen Ann Winters; brothers, Dennis Winters and Michael Winters.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marlene C. Crowley Winters of Dover; sons, Christopher Winters (Ann) of Hague, Va. and Gary Winters of Baltimore, Md.; daughters, Vicky Lynn Phillips of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. and Kelly Jessen of Milo, Maine; sister-in-law, Darlene Winters of Wilmington, N.C.; sixteen grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way #205, New Castle, Delaware 19720.
