DOVER - Kenneth A. Sparks went home to be with his Lord, August 28, 2014. He was born to William C. Sparks and Charlotte McSorley August 16, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. After his father returned from WWII in 1946 they moved to Grant City, Missouri. Finishing his high school education he worked for Sparks Paint Store until moving to Detroit, Michigan in May 1952. He enlisted in the USAF in August 1952 and served until honorably discharged in February 1973. He served at Lackland AFB, TX., Gila Bend AFS, AZ. Biloxi AFB, MS. Chanault AFB, LA., NAHA AB, Okinawa, Clinton-Sherman AFB, OK., Udorn AB Thailand, Forbes AFB, KS., and finally Dover AFB, DE, where he retired. He spent his career as an Air Traffic Controller reaching the rank of SMSGT as Chief Controller of the RADAR Approach Control facility at Dover AFB overseeing the transition from a mobile unit to a fixed RADAR facility. After his retirement from the USAF he went to work for the Prudential Insurance Co. until his death. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the love of his life, Nadine E. Sparks. Married October 30, 1954, they had two children, daughter Julie D. Brush her husband Pastor Roger J. Brush; their children, Angela R. Kay, her husband Aaron, Simon J. Brush and his wife Susanna, Luke D. Brush, Michael A. Brush; son Pastor Lance D. Sparks, his wife Laura, their children: Allen W. Sparks, Andrew B.D. Sparks, his wife Theresa, Ashley R. Richmond and her husband Dustin, Aryn E. Gruchacz and her husband Timothy, Anna N. Sparks, Alexander "Cade" Sparks, Austin "AJ" Sparks, Avery S. Sparks; and six great grandchildren. Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Faith Community Church, 2240 S. DuPont Hwy., Camden, DE 19934. Burial with full military honors will follow at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
