DOVER - Kathryn Louise "Kitty" Wharton of Dover passed away Friday April 18, 2014 in Courtland Manor Nursing Home. She was 84. Mrs. Wharton was born August 15, 1929 in Bellwood, Pennsylvania to the late Anthony and Eva Marchaza. She worked as a secretary for 22 years retiring in 1997 from Verizon. Mrs. Wharton enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, animals, and her family, especially the babies. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Calvin Wharton, Jr. 2004; and son, Gregory C. Wharton, 2003. She is survived by her sister, Susan Warmber of Hyattsville, Md.; daughters, Kathryn Crompton of Felton and Pamela C. Hunt of Port Charlotte, Fla.; sons, Geoffrey Wharton and his wife Lee Ann of Frederick, Md. and William R. Wharton and his wife Stephanie of Rockville, Md.; 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous, well-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, 35 Rising Sun Road, Camden-Wyoming, DE 19934. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
