Kathleen "Kathy" A. (Grove) Douglas, 63

MIDDLETOWN - Kathleen "Kathy" A. (Grove) Douglas of Middletown passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 63.

Kathy worked as a New Castle County crossing guard for the past 12 years. She enjoyed her job and made sure the children crossed safely to their destination.

Kathy especially enjoyed playing bingo on Thursday evenings with all of her bingo ladies at the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She loved working in the yard and having friends and family admire her flowers.

She was a charter member of the Volunteer Hose Ladies Auxiliary in Middletown, where she served as vice president and was a member of the Caesar Rodney Chapter No. 8 Order of the Eastern Star.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Robert M. Grove Jr.; her mother, Anna S. Grove; and a brother, Robert "Bobby" Grove III.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Douglas, of 44 years; a daughter, Donna Smith and her husband, Billy Joe of Felton; three grandsons, Billy Joe Smith Jr. and his wife, Amanda of Dover and Timothy L. Smith and his girlfriend, Krystle Lewicki and Nicholas J. Smith, both of Felton; a sister, Barbara "Bonnie" Taylor of Millville, N.J.; one brother, John "Jack" Grove and his wife, Carol, of Smyrna; her mother-in-law, Margaret Douglas; a brother-in-law, Dave Douglas and his wife, Patricia, of Newport; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and three very special "furry" friends, D.J., Momma Kitty, and Baby who will greatly miss Kathy.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Friday in the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, where family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Interment will be in Delaware Veteran"s Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
