DOVER - Karen Marie Bacon passed away, Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Christiana Hospital.
Mrs. Bacon was born, September 20, 1956, in New Castle, Delaware, to the late Joyce Stiles. She attended Del Castle Tech. in the Culinary Arts program and enjoyed culinary competitions. She won many competitions and enjoyed showing off her culinary art skills.
Karen Bacon was primarily a homemaker; but did own and operate "B&B Treasures" gift shop. Because of her husband, James Benjamin Bacon, serving during Vietnam, she helped get more benefits for veterans leaving the service. She contributed greatly to the making of The Listening Post Foundation for Veterans. Mrs. Bacon was a member of the North Bowers Fire Company, and Calvary Church of Dover; where she enjoyed singing in the choir, and always ready to save a life or home. She could repair anything, and she was an avid animal lover. She was a faithful woman who loved serving God; and her community in every way, and was always ready to make you laugh.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bacon; and grandson, Benjiman Bacon.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Bacon, and Amanda's wife, Mary Roberts of Dover; her best friends, Rosemary Frase, and Gloria Paxton, of Magnolia; her niece, Kimberly Greene; and great nephews, Peter A. Susi III, William Devonshire, and Austin Devonshire, of Magnolia.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Calvary Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, Del. Friends may call one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1901 Rockland Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
