Karen L. McKenna

Middletown - Karen L. (Olenik) McKenna passed away on Aug. 18, 2017, at Seasons Hospice, Newark. She was born on Jul. 19, 1961 in Dover, to John S. (Sr.) and Mary Anne (Leveille) Olenik.
Karen grew up in Dover. She graduated from Dover High School in 1979. After high school, she attended University of Delaware where she received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Karen was a CPA and worked for Delmarva Power for over 30 years.
Karen married John (Kip) McKenna, Jr. in 1983 in Dover. They were happily married for 34 years. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, going to the beach, watching Nascar and football games, playing games or making puzzles with family and friends.
Karen is survived by her husband, Kip of Middletown; her son, Kevin of Tampa, Fla.; her sister, Christine Olenik of Wilmington; brother, John (Jill) Olenik, Jr.; brother, Daniel (Patricia) Olenik of Kennett Square, Pa.; sister, Sharon (Richard) Davis of Wilmington; and brother, Andrew (Suzan) Olenik of Dover; and her many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Karen touched so many lives and truly lived her deep faith. She bravely fought a hard battle with her illness and is a model of love, patience, and strength to all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, Aug. 24, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, 371 E. Main St., Middletown. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Inc., 111 W. 11th Street, Suite 3, Wilmington, DE 19801. Visit debreastcancer.org for more information.
