June Elizabeth McAlexander, 76

CAMDEN-WYOMING - June Elizabeth McAlexander of Camden-Wyoming died Monday, July 23, 2007, at home. She was 76.

Mrs. McAlexander was born June 17, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Harold and Mae (Renke) Hartmayer.

She and her husband moved to Delaware from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 2003.

Mrs. McAlexander was a homemaker.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening, but her biggest joy in life was taking care of her family.

Mrs. McAlexander was a member of the Methodist church in Poughkeepsie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Hartmayer, in 1994.

Mrs. McAlexander is survived by her husband of 54 years, Frank Giles McAlexander of Dover; five daughters, Ellen Brod of Ocala, Fla., Elizabeth Brennan of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Eileen McAlexander of Ocala, Elaine Slujtner of Sykesville, Md., and Evelyn McAlexander of Wappingers Falls; her brother, John Hartmayer of Henderson, Nev.; and five grandchildren, Steven and Kevin Stujtner, John McAlexander, and Rebecca and Thomas Brennan.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Barratt"s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or St. Jude Children"s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
