LEWES - Julia F. (Bieniek) Hanley, of Lewes, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was 87.

Mrs. Hanley was born April 6, 1920, in Altoona, Pa., daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Weglowski) Bieniek.

She married her late husband and settled in Lewes in 1949.

Mrs. Hanley was a teacher's aide in Lewes schools for 15 years retiring in 1984.

She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was also a member of the former Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and a very active member at St. Jude /St. Edmond's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Hanley was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank her caregiver, Mary Sturdivant, for her devoted care over the past three years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Hanley in 2002; two brothers, Stanley and Walter Bieniek; and two sisters Steffie Lawruk and Helen Radwanski.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie Smith and her husband Charles and Mary Lou Warren and her husband Wayne, all of Lewes; six grandchildren, Kim, Christy, Cody and Kelly Smith and Jacki and Jenn Warren; two sisters, Sis Hollern and Joanne Turcovski, both of Altoona; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Bieniek and Dot Hanley, both of Altoona and Ruth Hanley of Jarrettsville, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, Del. 1 north of Five Points, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior.

The Rev. Raymond Forrester will be the Celebrant.

A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude The Apostle Building Fund, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958; or to Compassionate Care Hospice of the DelMarva Peninsula, 31038 Country Gardens Blvd., Suite D2, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
