CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Julia E. Johnson, of Pine Tree Rd., Chestertown, died on Thursday, March 12, 2009, in her home. She was 93. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Charles Hines and Bessie Elliott Hines. Mrs. Johnson worked in the food production industry for many years, last working for Salisbury Bros. in Ridgley. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pondtown, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a member of the United Methodist women and the Chester River Hospital Auxiliary Unit 2. Mrs. Johnson loved to travel, read and cook for family and friends. Mrs. Johnson was an active participant in the Crumpton Senior Center and the Queen Anne's County Adult Day Care activities. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her husband, Walter Johnson in 1989; and a son, Reginald Johnson. She is survived by three daughters, Audrey Bratcher and Elaine Ringgold of Pondtown, and Bessie Johnson of Sudlersville, Md.; a son, Walter Johnson Jr. of Goldsboro; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pondtown, Md. where friends and family may call after noon. Burial will follow in the adjoining churchyard cemetery. Arrangements by the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. Millington.
