Joyce Ann Chance, 71

CAMDEN - Joyce Ann Chance passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, in Riverside Hospital, Wilmington, with her husband at her side. She was 71.

Mrs. Chance was born May 31, 1936, in Edmond, Okla., daughter of the late Arnold G. and Barbara Bell Meagher Collier.

She was a graduate of Arcadia High School, Arcadia, Okla.

She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She accompanied her husband throughout his Air Force career and, upon retirement, resided in the Dover area. She loved flowers and gardening. She also loved working with fibers, spinning and weaving.

Mrs. Chance was an active member of Thistledown Fibers, and the club met in her home. She was an active member of any church she attended. She started playing piano for churches as a teenager and continued until failing health prevented her from continuing. She had a group of church ladies who met in her home and made quilts and baby clothes for "preemies," which they donated to the hospital. She was an active member of Magnolia United Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Knox.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Virgil Chance, whom she met and married in Guthrie, Okla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer and Glenn Wilson of Frederica, and Theresa Hisey of Newport, Ind.; a grandson, Gregory Hisey of Arizona; four brothers, Harold Collier of Bronx, N.Y., A.G. Collier of Edmond, and Larry Collier and Wendell Collier, both of Arcadia.

Services will be noon Thursday in Magnolia United Methodist Church, 39 N. Main St., where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Magnolia United Methodist Church, 39 N. Main St., Magnolia, DE 19962.

Arrangements by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
