NEW CASTLE - Josephine F. Summerfield, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008. She was 84.
Josephine previously worked at Topkis Brothers in Wilmington and the John Leach School in New Castle.
She was born in Valley Head, W.Va., to the late Frank and Mary (Arbogast) Snyder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson M. Summerfield; a daughter, Rita Jean Summerfield; a son, Larry S. Summerfield; and a brother, Kenneth Snyder.
Josephine is survived by three children, David S. Summerfield and wife Susan, Kevin Summerfield and wife Sheila and Martha and husband Roger Smith; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Billy Snyder and wife Rowena, John Snyder and wife Donna and Wendell Snyder; and one sister, Dora Kaufman.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in McCrery Memorial Chapel, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road.
A service will be 11 a.m. Monday in Marshallton United Methodist Church, 1105 Stanton Road, Marshallton.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Road, Suite 1, Newark, DE 19711.
