DOVER - Joseph Sedule passed away peacefully, at his home, surrounded by family on Christmas Eve.
Joseph was born on November 15, 1926, to Joseph and Nancy Sedule.
He graduated from Lower Merion High School, where he was described by classmates as a "subtle genius." He then enlisted and served for three years in the Army. Subsequently, Joseph attended Pennsylvania State University graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor's in Education. He also went on to obtain a Master of Education from Pennsylvania State University in 1951.
Joseph began his career as a physics and chemistry teacher and then continued in the field of education as a high school principal in Pennsylvania and later in Delaware, where he resided for 60 years. He was promoted to assistant superintendent, then changed his career track, opening two retail businesses in Dover. In his spare time, Joseph was an avid tennis player and fisherman, cruising aboard the "Ethel Anne" and then the "Jolly Joe." Joseph also enjoyed weekly poker games and participated on a local volleyball team. In his later years, Joseph and his wife traveled extensively, including attending Oktoberfest in Germany where he listened to many of his favorite polkas.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Ethel; his daughters, Nina Sedule-Ross and Sally Sedule-Murphy; granddaughters, Nicole Hartman and Morgan Murphy; and great-granddaughters, Allison and Phoebe Hartman.
A private service will be held at a later date.
