Joseph Scott Knipe

Joseph Scott Knipe passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at his home in Ohio. Joe, known as Scott by family members, was born in Washington D.C., May 21, 1956, to James Knipe (deceased) and Marina Rogin. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, Camden, Delaware, 1975, and attended Delaware State College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After an honorable discharge he became a machinist working primarily on electric motors.
Joe loved theater. In addition to acting, set design and set construction, he was an insightful director. He also enjoyed magic, golfing, fishing, hiking, reptiles, astronomy, and model building.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, James, and his brother, Dirk Knipe. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grennen; two sons, Aaron Knipe and Jason Knipe; his grandchildren, Xavier, Athena and Sadie; his mother, Marina; his stepfather, James Rogin; his sisters, Sherry Pisacano and Dawn Knipe; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at Torbert Funeral Home, 61 S. Bradford Street in Dover, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. before the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
