GREENWOOD - Joseph R. 'Joe' Dennis, Jr. passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Rileyville, Va., the son of the late Joseph R. Dennis, Sr. and Gracie Tysinger Dennis. Joe proudly served his country in the US Army, and was a WWII veteran. He worked at the DuPont Company in Seaford, retiring after 34 years of service. Joe was an avid NASCAR fan. Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by all of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth and Jack Maddox, of Greenwood, who he has been living with and they were overseeing his care for many years; three sons, Dana Dennis, of Maryville, Tenn., Mark Dennis, of Doylestown, Pa., and Lance Dennis, of Little Rock, Ark.; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; and Zoomer his faithful dog companion. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 12 noon, at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St, Greenwood, DE., 19950. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the SPCA. DE-Joseph-Dennis.jpg
