WERNERSVILLE, Pa. - Joseph M. Collom, 81, formerly of Wernersville, died Oct. 4, 2011, at Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was the husband of Sarah J. (Fischer) Collom with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Drexel Hill, he was a son of the late Percy W. and Edith (Birch) Collom. He graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1947 and attended Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. He retired from Chapin Lumber in Temple in 1992, having previously worked for the former Merritt Lumber Company in Reading and the former Elson Builders in Sinking Spring. He was named an Eagle Scout of Troop #1 on Feb. 13, 1946 in Drexel Hill. In addition to his wife Sarah, he is survived by two sons, Stephen W. Collom husband of Judy, Olive Branch, Mich., and Jeffrey S. Collom and his companion Deborah Marinkov, Myerstown; a daughter, Stacey A. wife of David A. Manwiller of Wyoming; a brother, Percy W. Collom, Jr. of Australia; and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Lamm and Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville, with the Rev. Dr. William P. Orr officiating. Friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Office of Institutional Advancement, The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades, 106 S. New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063.
