Joseph L. Satchell

SEAFORD - Joseph L. Satchell, of Seaford, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, after lengthy illness. Joseph was born to the late Elmer A. and Maude Collins Satchell in Reedtown, Va. on March 30, 1931. Joseph served in the army during the Korean War. Joseph began his teaching career at Maryland State College, now UMES in Princess Anne, Md. as Professor of Art and finished his career as Professor of Art at Delaware State University in Dover, retiring in 1991. Joseph was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, singing in the Mass & Men's Chorus and he was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity. Mr. Satchell is survived by his wife of 47 years, Fran W, Satchell; daughters, Tracey Cephas and Kimberly (Kenneth) Alexander of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, George F. Bowman III, K. Brooke Bowman, and Emily Alexander; three sisters, Berry Satchell of Fayetteville, N.C., Thelma (Andre) Savage of Cape Charles, Va., and Christine Claude of Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at the Calvary Baptist Church (Queen and Fulton Street, Dover) with viewing one hour before the service. Interment will be in the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Arrangements by Robert W. Miller, Funeral Home. 302-424-1400.
