Joseph Ernest Tinley Jr.

DOVER - Joseph "Joe" Ernest Tinley Jr., 90, of Dover, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at his home surrounded with loving family. He was born on Jan. 4, 1921, in Cambridge, Md., to the late Joseph and Mary Marker Tinley Sr. Joe was a graduate of Delmar High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. Joe's career as a dept. Mgr. with A & P Food Chain ended with his retirement after 33 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Howard Tinley; and older sister, Hazel Brumbley. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nellie Tinley of Dover; daughter, Mary Ann Tinley of Dover; sister, Mary T. Richards of Dover; stepdaughter, Marie Leager of Smyrna; stepson and his wife, Bill and Nancy Cassell of Smyrna; niece and her husband, Ellen and Rich Noyes of McKinney, Texas; nephew, Charles Tinley of Cambridge, Md.; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, all of Delaware. Burial will be private at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
