Joseph Edwin Tennefoss passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at his home in Greenwood surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 3, 1951 in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late Thomas Tennefoss and Sarah Troyer Tennefoss. He was married on September 4, 1971 to Dorothy Benner and they made their home in Greenwood.
He loved tinkering to create inventions, playing practical jokes, gardening and bee-keeping. He was a meat cutter, construction worker and chicken farmer. He frequently butchered deer and other livestock for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Benner Tennefoss; four children, Dawn Troyer and her husband Lester, Edwin Tennefoss and his wife Rita, Michelle Mast and her husband Fred, and Krista Tennefoss all of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren, Kayla and her husband Dennis, Dylan, Jenna, Faith, Kristen, Edwin Jr., Jeremy, Austin, Laci, Blake and Tessa; and nine siblings, David Tennefoss and his wife Ruth of Ohio, Janice Schrock and her husband Marlin of Greenwood, Linda Schrock and her husband Merlin of Greenwood, Steven Hochstetler and his wife Julie of VA, T.J. Tennefoss and his wife Jolene of Greenwood, Michael Tennefoss and his wife Carol Jean of Harrington, Cindy Green and her husband Lawrence of Greenwood and Penny Sharp and her husband Donnie of Greenwood.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his twin brother, James Tennefoss; an infant sister, Mildred Tennefoss; and his step-mother, Cora Tennefoss.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Greenwood Mennonite Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Monday from 3 to 4 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Greenwood Mennonite Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 246, Greenwood, DE 19950 or online at http://www.greenwoodmennonitechurch.org/donate
