LINCOLN - Jose Ramon Pabon Sr., affectionately known as 'Chiva', passed away suddenly at Milford Hospital on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. He was born on November 20, 1943, in Poncé, Puerto Rico, son of the late Manuel Pabon and Julia Rivera Reyes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Felicia Pennewell; and his granddaughter, Taleya Pabon. Jose worked as a mechanic for many years at the Draper King Cole factory until its closing. Then at the Sea Watch seafood factory until his retirement several years ago. He was a quiet, proud man who loved his family and friends. He also loved to be outside, whether it was fixing cars, cutting grass, fishing or just laying in his hammock. He leaves to cherish his memory, his significant other, Ana Andrade; Shellie Brown, the mother of six of his children; his son, Jose Pabon Jr.; his five remaining daughters, Cynthia Banks, Ida Pennewell, Christina Saez, Margaret Pabon and Julia Pabon; his two step-daughters, Evangeline Ramirez and Zoila Ramirez; his two sons-in-law, Jean Carlos Navas and Juan Saez Sr.; 31 grandchildren; and his long-time friends and brothers Harry, Julio, Jaime, Louis, Gregorio, Tony, Robert Mack, Tommy, Miguel, Luis, Carlos and many others. He will be greatly missed by all. "Poppy, we love you!" In honoring Jose's wish to be cremated, a brief viewing will be held for his family and close friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on August 4, 2012, at 21775 Pine Haven Road, Lincoln, DE 19960. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in the name of Jose R. Pabon to 3131 Abec Lane, Felton, DE 19943.
