EARLVILLE, Md. - John William Lawrence Jr. of Earlville died on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at his home. He was 51.
Born July 13, 1956, in New Jersey he was the son of the late John W. Sr. and Helen M. Daniels Lawrence.
Mr. Lawrence graduated high school in Washington.
After graduation he attended Langston University where he played collegiate football.
Following graduation, Mr. Lawrence played semi-professional football until shoulder injuries ended his athletic career.
He then worked as a car salesman for many dealerships, most recently with Nucar Pontiac/GMC/and Buick in Newark, Del., Colonial Chevrolet, and Ramsey Pontiac which are both in Chestertown.
"Bojak," as everyone called this gentle giant, loved football, his Lord, and his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his two sons, John W. Lawrence Jr. and John M. Lawrence; a daughter, Simone Lawrence; two sisters, Helen McGowens and Diane Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 226 E. Main St. in Cecilton, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior.
Internment will be held at the Galena Cemetery, Galena.
