John Rothermel, 81
MILFORD - John Rothermel of Milford died Friday, Nov. 17, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 81.
Mr. Rothermel was born in Milford, son of the late Frank and Margaret Rothermel.
He served his country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, in both World War II and the Ko-rean War.
Mr. Rothermel worked for the Civil Service at Dover Air Force Base as an air flight mechanic following his military service, retiring after 27 years of service.
He was a beloved father. He was a passionate gardener, and enjoyed reading and his times with friends at the Frederica Senior Center.
Mr. Rothermel was a member of St. Bernadette"s Church in Harrington, the Veterans of For-eign Wars post in Milford and the Frederica Senior Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Rothermel; two brothers-in-law, Richard Maloney and Lyman Wroten; and a son-in- law, Thom Parman.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Rothermel; five daughters, Dr.
Bernadette Curtis of Moorestown, N.J., Barbara Dawson of League City, Texas, Denise Rothermel of Wyoming, Gina Parman of Dover and Teresa Conn of Moorestown, N.J.; four brothers, Frank Rothermel, Harold Rothermel, Marvin Rothermel and Martin Rothermel, all of Milford; five sisters, Frances Bennett, Ruth Bennett, Helen Sharp and Marian Keily, all of Milford, and Sarah Effinger of Laurel; and six grand-children, Heather Rose Steele, April Renee Steele; Jessica Rae Rogers, Christopher Rothermel Curtis, Allison Margaret Curtis and Alexandra Marie Parman.
Private funeral Mass will be held for immediate family only. Memorial reception for all family and friends will be 2 p.m. Satur-day in Harvest Years Senior Cen- ter, Camden.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Frederica Senior Center, 201 S. Market St., Frederica, DE 19946.
