John Robert Quigley

John Robert Quigley passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 13, 2018, after a long illness.
John was born to Joseph and Marie (Cannon) Quigley in the Spring of 1935 in New Castle on the family's farm.
John graduated from William Penn High School in 1953 and served as class vice president. Following High School John worked for Moore Bros., before joining the Delaware Air National Guard on Sept. 8, 1953. He became a full time technician at the New Castle air base in August of 1954. He served in the Air Guard as a crew chief on the F-86 Sabre Jets, then became a flight engineer, flying on the C-97 Stratofreighter and C-130 Hercules air craft.
John retired in 1991 after Desert Storm with the rank of Senior Master Sargent with 38 years of service. John recorded 15,000 flight hours which are the most by anyone in the DeANG.
John was an avid fisherman and bird hunter. John also earned his captain's license and co-captained the charter boat Razorback with his son Roger.
John is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Lou Ann (Casson); two sons Roger and Paul; and stepson, Steven Walls.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720. The Visitation hour will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial Service will immediately follow at The Glebe Cemetery.
