John R. Pfleger Jr.

Ocean City, MD - John "Jack" R. Pfleger, Jr. formerly of Sussex County passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sat., Jun. 6, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. "Jack" was born in Norristown, PA. on Feb. 11, 1947 son of the late John R. and Margaret (Adamson) Pfleger, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of A.D. Eisenhower High School in Norristown, PA. Mr. Pfleger also proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1966-1972. "Jack" was an electrician by trade and was a member of the IBEW Local 380 in Pa. For the past five years, he has worked in the maintenance department of the Assateague National Park. "Jack" loved the outdoors, nature and the environment. One of his accomplishments was taking a six week trip to travel throughout the United States to visit several of the National Parks and to dip his feet in the Pacific Ocean. "Jack" also enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping; however his greatest joy was being around his grandchildren. He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jean (Jopling) Pfleger; three children, John R. Pfleger, III and his wife, Stacy of Georgetown, James Pfleger and his wife, Holly of Millsboro and Jennifer Hearne and her husband, Jason of Ocean City, MD. "Jack" is also survived by his six grandchildren, Colby Pfleger, Kailen McMullen, Britaney Pfleger, Jason Hearne, Jr., John R. Pfleger, IV and Miranda Hearne; and a sister, Lorizel Becker of Missouri. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Thurs., Jun. 11, 2015 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966, where the memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton.
