John R. 'Doc' Daniels, 68

TOWNSEND - John R. "Doc" Daniels, 68, of Townsend, passed away at his residence on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009. Born on May 13, 1941, in Smyrna, he was the son of the late Robert F. "Bob" and Martha Elizabeth (Guessford) Daniels. Doc was a member of Ironworkers Local #451 in Wilmington, for 26 years, as well as a member of A.F. & A.M Delaware Lodge #37. He was an accomplished musician who enjoyed playing various instruments, including the guitar, fiddle, banjo and mandolin with many bands all of his life. His passion for music, especially blue grass, was evident in each song he played. Doc loved to fish, crab, and visit the slots. He enjoyed restoring Case tractors, traveling to tractor auctions and attending Blue Grass festivals. Doc leaves his love for music to his three children, Faron Daniels and his wife Dolores, Daron "Jay" Daniels and his wife Sara, and Barbara Paisley; a sister, Virginia Lee Daniels; a brother, James "Jimmy" Daniels; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Wade and Brandon Daniels and Ryan Paisley; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Family and friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening, Aug. 20, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, and from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Townsend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Avenue, Suite 202, Wilmington, DE 19806-3280.
