MILFORD - John Paul Sobus Jr., of Milford, passed away on Nov. 25, 2010, at home. He was 64. He was born in Holland, Mich., the son of the late John P. Sr. and Bernice (Hlavacek) Sobus. From 1966 to 1970 he was active Duty USAF, from 1970 to 1974, he worked at Clarke's Refrigeration, Smyrna, from 1974 to 2001, he was an Air Force Reserve Technician on C-5 Galaxy Aircraft, DAFB, in 1993 he transferred to Isodocks, DAFB, from 1993 to 2000, he was a technician and inspector Flight Line DAFB 436th/512th , retired 2001, DAFB, TSGT. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #534 in Harrington. John was known for his kind ways and humble life. He enjoyed the outdoors and finding peace in nature. He did not like to accept help from anyone, but gave freely of his time to others in need. He is survived by his children, John Daniel Sobus of Milford, Paul Richard Sobus of Farmington; two stepsons, Andrew Nitkowski of Milford, Stanley Nitkowski of Boynton Beach, Fla., who he thought of as his own; one sister, Joyce Vugrin; three grandsons, Christopher, Connor and Colby; a niece, Meredith Sobus and a nephew, Maxmillian Sobus, both of Wilmington. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 12 noon.
