John M. Smith, 81 HARTLY - John M. Smith, 81, of Hartly, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in Capitol Healthcare Center. He was born on Dec. 23, 1927, in Lindenhurst, Long Island, N.Y., son of the late Walter and Alice (Butcher) Smith. John served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He was an auto mechanic. John enjoyed woodworking, and gardening. He was a member of the American Legion and was a volunteer fireman in New York for 20 years. John and his wife for 10 years delivered Meals on Wheels. John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Smith; a son, Bruce J. Smith and his wife Beverly; a daughter, Sherry Lee Jones; grandchildren, Lisa Marie Delong and her husband Dennis, Jessi D. Smith, and Michelle Smith; and two great-grandsons, William Delong and Robert M. Delong. Graveside services will be noon, Friday, Nov. 27, at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Alzheimers Association, Delaware Valley Chapter Headquarters, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106; or the Hartly Ambulance Fund, P.O.
