John Louis Hayes Carmona

MILFORD - John Louis Hayes Carmona, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Bayhealth – Kent General Hospital in Dover.
John was born Mar. 2, 1929, in Tuckerton, N.J., the son of the late Luis P. and Katherine (Jones) Carmona.
John and his brother, George were lifeguards in Strathmere, N.J. during their teenage years. He was a terrific football and baseball player and had been contacted by three major league baseball teams to join their teams. Before moving to Maryland, he had worked for the Atlantic City Light Company. He was a job-site inspector for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Marsh Carmona; and second wife, Kathrine Dyson Carmona.
He is survived by his children, John L. Carmona, Jr. of Deland, Fla. and Mary Heaney of Evans, Ga.; brother, George Wilson Carmona and wife Joan, of Collingswood, N.J.; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford.
