SOMERSET - John L. Biddle, a six-month resident of Somerset, formerly of Bridgewater and Smyrna, Del., died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was 59.
Mr. Biddle was born Feb. 20, 1947, in Dover, Del., and was raised in Smyrna.
He was a graduate of John Bassett Moore High School, Smyrna, and attended the Berkeley School of Music.
Mr. Biddle was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and played in the Navy band.
He worked as a self-employed motorcycle mechanic in Bridgewater for several years, and was also the former owner of North East Anglers in East Bridgewater.
Mr. Biddle"s hobbies included boating, model trains, the outdoors and music.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shirley "Bonnie" (Pase) Biddle; his father, Ralph Biddle of Smyrna; two brothers-in-law, Richard Pase and his wife Mary of Jupiter, Fla., and Austin Pase and his wife Bette Ann of Smyrna; two sisters-in-law, Carole Handsberry and her husband Gene of Smyrna and Pat Conley and her husband Wes of Clayton, Del.; and several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association-Kent County, Memorial Fulfillment Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235; the American Diabetes Association, 100 West 10th Street, Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801; or the National Kidney Foundation, 325 Chestnut St., Suite 725, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
