DOVER - John Kozel Jr. of Dover died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, in his home in Dover. He was 74.
Mr. Kozel was born and raised in Philadelphia, son of the late John and Florence Kozel.
He was a graduate of La Salle College, where he received a degree in business administration.
Mr. Kozel was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He moved to Dover in 1963.
Mr. Kozel worked in management in inventory control at International Playtex Co., retiring in 1998.
He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered as someone who made a difference.
Mr. Kozel was active in Dover Little League and scholastic sports. He served as a volunteer with Money Management of Delaware, assisting senior citizens with their tax preparations. He was an active member of Holy Cross Church, where he served as Eucharistic minister. He was also a longtime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4182 and the Dover Modern Maturity Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Kozel.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Kozel; a daughter, Marie Kozel of Wilmington; five sons and four daughters-in-law, John and Mary Ann Kozel of Lakewood, Calif., Thomas and Nancy Kozel of Ellicott City, Md., Richard and Terri Kozel of Annapolis, Md., and Paul and Marne Kozel and James Kozel, all of Dover; a sister, Patricia Krasowski of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Joseph Kozel of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, Jacqueline Kozel, Jessica Kozel, Ryan Kozel, Emily Kozel, Bruce Kozel, Jonathan Kozel, Kathryn Kozel, Michael Kozel and Amanda Pendry.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Thursday in Holy Cross Church Society, State Street, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Holy Cross Education Foundation, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
