John Harvey Eastburn, 89

NORTH FORT MEYER, Fla. - John Harvey Eastburn, of North Fort Meyer, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009, in Cape Coral Hospital in Florida. He was 89. Mr. Eastburn was born on Feb. 16, 1920, in Marshallton, Del., to the late John and Grace Eastburn. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Eastburn of North Fort Meyer; son, Carl Harvey Eastburn and his wife Laura of Delaware City, Del.; sister, Esther Duhamell and her husband Robert of Newark, Del.; grandchildren, Pamela Eastburn, Joshua Eastburn, Julie Eastburn, Bret Halling, Karl Eastburn, Grace Eastburn, Shannon Halling, David McCaffrey, Samantha McCaffrey; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Eastburn served in the 8th Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of two purple hearts. He was preceded in death by his brother Earl Eastburn. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, Del. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery.
