DOVER – John Harry Mohrman Jr., of Dover, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011, in Lewes. He was 62. John was born June 13, 1948, in Laramie, Wyo., son of Ann Mohrman of Orwigsburg, Pa., and the late John Mohrman Sr. His father was in the U.S. Air Force, and the family lived all over the world while John was growing up, including Japan, Newfoundland, Canada, Texas, and Hawaii, where he was living the day Hawaii became a state. John graduated from Dauphin High School in Harrisburg, Pa., in 1966. He received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Lebanon Valley College and a Master of Business from the University of Illinois. He enjoyed playing lacrosse in college. John served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1976, where he worked as a medic. He liked caring for people. He retired from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, where he enjoyed his position as a program manager of the emergency response team. More than anything, John loved his three sons and loved to spend time with them. He was a caring father and proud of his sons and their achievements. His kids meant the world to him. John enjoyed taking his family camping, with Shenandoah National Park being the family's favorite spot. His best friend was his Dalmatian and Labrador, Ollie. John was a positive person and a straight shooter, who was admired by every person he met. He loved life and will be remembered as a gentle, caring and loving person. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Mohrman. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sons, Nathan Mohrman, Jared Mohrman and Evan Mohrman; his granddaughter, Kyleigh Mohrman; and his dedicated girlfriend, Theresa Young, all of Dover. Services will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, March15, 2011 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will be private in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pa. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
