MAGNOLIA - John Edward Counterman, USAF, Retired passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at Kent General Hospital.
John was born Oct. 27, 1934 in Virgil, Kan. to the late Charles Joseph Counterman and Goldie Elizabeth Griffith Counterman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, John E. Sierman; brothers, Arthur Joseph and Robert Eugene Counterman; sisters, Goldie Marie and husband Herbet Vant Leven, Rosalie Boyett Atkisson, Shirley Ann and husband James Riddle and Catherine Kay Counterman.
John is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Anne (Jarrell) Counterman; daughter, Anne Elizabeth Burba and husband William E.; grandchildren, Kyle and Emily Burba of Severn, Md.; brother, William C. Counterman, Sr. and wife, Sharon; sister, Carol Nelson all of El Dorado, Kan.; in-laws, Elaine Jarrell, Alice and Michael Murray, Eleanor and Floyd Marine, Raymond and Linda Jarrell, Larry and April Jarrell; and numerous nieces, nephews in Delaware, Kansas and Texas.
John will be interred at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in New Castle County at a later date.
