John E. 'Jack' Pendleton MILFORD - John E. "Jack" Pendleton, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2010, in the Silver Lake Center, Dover. He was 91. Mr. Pendleton was born January 15, 1918 in Lancaster, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Anna (Vogel) Pendleton. He was employed with DuPont's in Seaford, retiring as a supervisor in 1981 after 42 years with the company. Jack enjoyed many outdoor activities over the years. He loved the game of golf and was a member of the Shawnee Country Club in Milford, where he had served on their Board of Directors and was one of several who were instrumental in the planning and completion of the Club's back nine to make the course 18 holes. He found great pleasure in gardening and taking care of his yard, trips to the beach and fishing. He also loved reading and was an avid bowler in his younger days. Mr. Pendleton was an 82 year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Milford. Over the years, he had served as an ordained member of the Deacons, the Elders and the Trustees and willingly devoted his time to many other church activities. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Pendleton and Joseph Pendleton. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, S. Carolyn Pendleton; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacalyn "Jackie" and Mike Griffin of Felton; and two grandsons, Brian James and Scott James. Services were 2 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends called one hour prior. Interment was in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 172, Milford, DE 19963.
