John E. Dooley, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. John was born March 6, 1937 in Washington D.C., son of the late Ernest and Helen Dooley.
John honorably served in the United States Navy prior to a long, distinguished career in banking where he met his beloved wife Daphne of 47 years. After years of banking, John transitioned into the Insurance business where he continued to help others plan and protect their futures until his wellearned retirement.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a devoted Husband, Dad, Pop-Pop and Great Pop-Pop who cherished time spent with family. John enjoyed cookouts and watching his Washington Redskins, HTTR!
John is preceded in death by his wife Daphne R. Dooley. He is survived by his three daughters, Sandy Linnane (Kevin), Lisa Tyler (Dale) and Michele Sampson (Sam), six grandchildren Stephanie, Danielle, Cierra, Austin, Garrett and Emma, as well as six great grandchildren, Zane Jr, Natalia, Gracie Mae, Declan, Theodore and Easton.
John will be laid to rest at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date for friends and family. Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc. Dover.
