Joequin Jack Dongarra, 81

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Joequin Jack Dongarra of Chestertown died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2007, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 81.

Jack was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Baltimore, son of the late George and Stella Dongarra.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Jack owned and operated Jack's Shoe Repair in Cockeysville for 40 years until his retirement in 1989. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Chestertown.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anne (Trew) Dongarra; his stepmother, Marie Dongarra of Essex; four children, Tori Prosser and her husband Steve of White Marsh, John J. Dongarra and his wife Cindy of Forest Hill, Linda Lambert and her husband John of Sudlersville and Tina Lambert and her husband Peter of Chestertown; two brothers, Peter Dongarra of Parkton and George Dongarra Jr. of Federalsburg; and eight grandchildren, Joshua Lambert, Heather Lambert, Chelsea Prosser, Jessica Lambert, Amanda Lambert, Tabatha Lambert, Kortney Dongarra and Kimmie Kreis.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena.

Mass of Christian burial will be offered Thursday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 508 High St., Chestertown.

Burial will follow in the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock.
