Joan S. (Rigby) Taylor, 73

DOVER - Joan S. (Rigby) Taylor of Dover passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in her home surrounded by her loving family following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 73.

She was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Chester, Md., daughter of the late Francis and Agnes (Clough) Thomas.

Mrs. Taylor had worked for Richardson and Robbins of Dover, Leeds Travel in Smyrna and later for Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital as a nurses aide for 12 years retiring in 1995.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, also going to the slots at Dover Downs.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her stepfather, Thomas W. McGee; a brother, Robert F. Thomas; and her first husband of 17 years, Reese Rigby.

She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 38 years, William L. Taylor; four sons and daughters-in-law, Reese and Judy Rigby of Dover, Roy and Kim Rigby of Lincoln, Harry and Ann Rigby of Dover and Morgan and Susan Rigby of Dover; a daughter and companion, Freeda Rigby and Gail Shaughnessy of Dover; siblings, Gloria Thomas and her husband, Alfred Jr., Ronald A. Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas W. McGee Jr. of Merced, Calif. and Jack McGee of Oakland Park, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Marie Bradley of Willow Grove and Ursula Thomas; 11 grandchildren Reese M. Rigby Jr., Kevin Rigby, Tiffany Zura, Amy Rigby, Michele Rigby, Brian Rigby, Daniel Rigby, Matthew Rigby, Elizabeth Rigby, Jonathan Rigby and Taylor Rigby; four great-grandchildren, Adrian Rigby, Alan Peters, Leah Rigby, and Hannah Zura.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
