DOVER - Jo Ann Andrews of Dover passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Westminster Village, Dover. She was 87.

She was born May 24, 1920, in Akron, Ohio, daughter of the late Harry O. Porter and Ione (McCarty) Porter.

Jo Ann attended the University of Akron and married Frederick W. Andrews in Akron in 1940 while he worked at B.F. Goodrich. After spending a few years in Akron, she and her husband moved to Dover.

She volunteered with various charitable organizations, most notably The American Field Service.

Jo Ann was a talented artist and continued to paint into her mid-80s.

She customarily had a twinkle in her eye, a ready smile and was a joy to her friends and acquaintances.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in January 2000; and their daughter, Terryl "Terry" Andrews Records, in August 1995.

Jo Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Pirnie of Houston, Texas; two nephews, Douglas D. Pirnie of New York City and Geoffrey Pirnie of Nova Scotia; and a niece, Martha Chatrou of Houston.

Jo Ann will be greatly missed.

Local arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
