Jewel E. Jacobus

DOVER - Jewel E. Jacobus, of Dover, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Kent General Hospital in Dover. She was 89. Mrs. Jacobus was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Essex County, N.J., to the late Theodore Robert Zuber and Julia Mindnich Zuber. She was Miss Millburn, N.J., in 1939. She enjoyed boating and clamming during her days while living at her Jersey Shore home. She also liked sewing. She recently moved to Dover after living many years in Lake County, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul C. Jacobus; and her second husband, Louis H. Ostrom. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. Covert and her husband Doug of Smyrna; a sister, Delores Vierling of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters, Suzanne Grobbel and her husband Tom of Round Hill, Va., and Elizabeth F. Covert of West Swanzey, N.H.; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in the West Room of the Community Center at Westminster Village in Dover.
