DOVER - Jessie Lee Franklin Bowe, of Dover, departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at home. She was 80. She was born June 25, 1928, in Taylortown, N.C., to the late George and Mary Franklin. A caregiver by profession, she devoted her latter years to caring for the sick. She was a devoted member of Lincoln Pentecostal Church of God, Lincoln. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Riddick T. Bowe; one brother, Raleigh Franklin; two sisters, Adeline Cox and Phyllis Banks; and a son-in-law, Dale Shockley Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Joan Haynesworth of Waldorf, Md., Yvonne Shockley of Lincoln; eight sons, Theodis (Lena) of Millsboro, Joseph (Donna) of Bowie, Md., William (Rose) of Ellendale, Everett (Paulette) of Dover, Larry (Felicia) of Hartly, Lynnwood (Janet) of Felton, Louellis (Marilyn) of Woodside, and Jacques (Brenda) of Frederica; 33 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Lee Spence of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and a host of other relatives, church family and friends. Funeral services will be noon Saturday, March 7, at Lincoln Pentecostal Church of God, Lincoln, where a viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday. Interment will be at Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
