SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Jesse George Whalen of Sudlersville, died Wed., Dec. 8, 2010, at Easton Memorial Hospital in Easton. He was 76. Jesse G. Whalen was born July 16, 1934, in Chester, Pa., the son of the late Jesse Sharp Whalen and Fredericka Sigel Whalen. Mr. Whalen worked as a Millwright for Local nion 1545 and he was also a standardbred horse trainer. He moved to Sudlersville in 1951 and has been a resident of Queen Anne's County ever since. On June 25, 1955, he married Margaret "Peggy" Lloyd Whalen. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association and the Cloverleaf Horse Association. His passion was working with his horses as well as spending time with his family. He loved to work on the farm and in his garden and talk and debate politics with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, "Peggy" Whalen of Sudlersville; two sons, Jesse "Randy" Whalen and wife Jan of Sudlersville, Mark Patrick Whalen and wife Joanne of Millington; one sister, Barbara Whalen Hudson of West Chester, Pa; one brother, James V. Whalen of Crumpton; four grandchildren, Scott Whalen of Washington, D.C., Brian Whalen of College Park, Sophia Whalen and Jesse T. Whalen both of Sudlersville; and his two dogs, Penny and Babe. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 14, 2010, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be held in Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville, MD following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Shore Chapter, P.O.
