Jerome D. Shetzler

Shetzler, 85 SMYRNA - Jerome D. Shetzler, "Jerry" passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Mr. Shetzler was born Nov. 27, 1928 in Middletown, the son of the late William and Anna Shetzler. Jerry served his country with honor for the National Guard for 16 years. He retired after several years as a Construction Carpenter. He loved hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He served as President and Coach for the Smyrna-Clayton Little League for many years. He was a Charter Member of the Smyrna-Clayton Moose Lodge #2046, Member of Ducks Unlimited and a Member of the American Legion Post #14 of Smyrna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Edward. He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons, Jerry and Michael; his brother, Francis; four sisters, Dorothy Craig, Delores Naylor, Mary Bowman and Ruth Whitlock and extended family members. A viewing will be held on from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Graveside services will be held after the viewing in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Newark, DE 19713 or to the American Lung Association, 630 Churchmans Rd., Suite 202, Newark, DE 19702.
