MILFORD - Jay R. Donovan, Sr., of Milford, Del., passed away on his mother's birthday, Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Jay was a general contractor. He spent his youth working for Carl "Maypop" Gregg and his best friend John Macklin scrapping metal and tires. He loved restoring homes, traveling and taking cruises with his family and friends. He enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets as well as hat weaving using coconut palm leaves. He was devoted daily to watching and studying the Bible with the Shepherd's Chapel Church, Pastor Arnold Murray presiding and was an avid supporter of the church and its programs. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mathilda "Tillie" Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Margarita Gonzales; two sons, Jay R. Donovan, Jr. and Justin R. Donovan, Sr. and his wife Marsha; grandchildren, Christina M. Donovan, Justin R. Donovan, Jr. and Kahlan B. Donovan. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Jay's memory to Shepherd's Chapel Church, P.O. Box 416, Gravette, Arkansas 72736.
