Jay Isaac Moore, 52 DOVER - Jay Isaac Moore, of Dover, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, in his home. He was 52. Mr. Moore was born Nov. 29, 1957, Thanksgiving Day in West Chester, Pa., to the late William Denney Moore and Bearline Marie DeHaven Moore. He worked for 20 years as a forklift operator for PPG Industries. Mr. Moore was a member of the Delaware Pony Breeders, the Mid Atlantic Circuit, International Trotting and Pacing Association (I.T.P.A), American Legion and Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association. He also was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for 6 years. Mr. Moore was the winner of the I.T.P.A National Stakes Race with Mel's Payday in 1990 right after his son JR was born. He had also won the PA Sires Stakes with DJ Towne Drunk, the N.J. sire stakes, and helped Adam with Chairman of the Board. In 1988, Mr. Moore got up early on State Championship day and climbed billboards to put up signs for Adams and Stan's team all the way to William Penn he was extremely proud when Dover High won the championship. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Adam Coker, Oct. 27, 2006; and his mother-in-law, Mary Reed, June 11, 1999. He is survived by his sons, J.R. Moore, and Stanley Burris and his wife Kristen; daughter-in-law, Cindy Coker, all of Dover; brother, Gary Moore of Phoenixville, Pa.; two half brothers, William Moore of Spring City, Pa., and Alvin Moore of Avon, Ind.; sister, Joan Murray of Lancaster, Pa.; half sister, Sally Steinmetz of Havertown, Pa.; grandchildren, Savannah Mary, and Cheyenne Rose Coker, and Shaquille, and Laney Burris. In addition, he is survived by the mother of his child, Amy Reed; and his father-in-law, Allen Reed, both of Dover. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Feb. 20, 2010, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call two hours prior.
