PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Jason Robert Parish of Philadelphia, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 while participating in one of his many passions in life, hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Jason was born September 7, 1978 in Dover, Delaware to Patrick G. Parish and Nancy Wells Parish. He graduated from Dover High School in 1996 and the University of Delaware in 2000 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jason was employed by Ewing Cole of Philadelphia, Pa. as an engineer. Jason was an accomplished musician, playing the guitar, piano, and saxophone. He most recently released a CD of his original songs entitled, "A Mountain and A Hill." As a teenager, Jason studied classical music and later jazz before teaching himself the guitar and began writing songs in the styles of folk, blues, classic country and Americana. Jason was an extremely avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and attended all of their home games, planning elaborate tailgates with fellow fans. He thoroughly enjoyed camping, hiking, and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed playing soccer from an early age and participated in a co-ed league in Wilmington, Del. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Jinnie Wells and Arnold and Ruth Parish. In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by his sister, Amy Lambert and her husband, Dale of Wilmington; aunt and uncle, Leslie and Dave Denny; cousins, Kathy Denny and Erin Huynh and her husband, Dave of Smyrna; many extended family and friends; and his ever faithful dogs, Trixie and Vega. Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State St., Dover, Delaware. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to First State Animal Rescue Center and ASPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
