SMYRNA - Janna W. Ennis, of Smyrna, formerly of Dover, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at her daughter's home in Magnolia. She was 73. She was born in Holland, and immigrated to the United States as a young girl. She lived near Marion, N.Y., for many years and had owned and operated a water supply company and a florist before moving to Delaware in the early 1980's. She worked as a supervisor of customer service for JC Penney, Dover, for 23 years before her retirement. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Levy Court Commissioner Richard E. "Dick" Ennis Sr. of Smyrna; seven children, Nicholas (Amy) Leeuwen of Palmyra, N.Y., James (Deborah) Leeuwen of Marion, N.Y., David (Theresa) Leeuwen of Newark, Keith (Kelly) Leeuwen of Felton, Barry (Michelle) Leeuwen of Felton, Denise (Jack) Murphy of Magnolia, and Greg (Mandy) Leeuwen of Baltimore; two brothers, Cornelius (Helga) DeKoning of Laurel, and Arend (Betty) DeKoning of Hudsonville, Mich.; and 20 grandchildren. The Ennis family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, with a memorial service at 8:30 p.m. at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. The DeKoning and Leeuwen families will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Rd., Dover. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to either Compassionate Care Hospice, 11 Independence Way, Newark, DE 19713; or to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Ste. 205, New Castle, DE 19720. Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
