FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Janice Ruth Hayes of Federalsburg was unexpectedly taken home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, near Seaford, Del. She was 41.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1966, daughter of Pail W. Pierce and Marjean Gilbert Pierce of Nashville, Tenn.
She received an associate's degree in accounting and business from Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College.
Mrs. Hayes was a medical transcriptionist.
She attended, with her husband and daughter, the Salvation Army Sussex Chapel, Seaford.
She was an accomplished pianist and held several positions as an accompanist in local churches.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Robert H. Hayes, whom she married on June 21, 1986; a son, U.S. Air Forse Airman Robert C. Hayes of Monterey, Calif.; a daughter, April J. Hayes of Federalsburg; two sisters, Elizabeth Purtee of Nashville and Gloria Cardona of Jacksonville, Fla.; three nephews; and one niece.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Denton Wayside Church of Christ in Christian Union with Lts. Chas and Debbie Engel of the Salvation Army officiating.
Interment will follow at Bloomery Cemetery, near Smithville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Framptom Funeral Home, Federalsburg.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Sussex Chapel, 601 N. Dual Highway, Seaford, DE 19973; or to American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 501, Wilmington, DE 19801-6609.
