Jane Wood Swain

HARRINGTON - Jane Wood Swain, age 95, of Harrington, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Easton, Md., to the late Earl B. and Eliza Wood. In 1936 she married Franklin Swain and together they ran the family hotel business. Jane was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and served on the board of directors. She was an active member of Trinity for more than 65 years. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Swain was preceded in death by five siblings and a granddaughter. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane "Sue" Simpler of Milton, and Sharon Quillen and her husband Don of Dover. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Deborah Priddy, Lora Wagner, Michael Simpler and Andy Simpler, all of Lewes, and Janel Quillen Flynn of Peyton, Colo., and Dr. Matthew D. Quillen of Lemoore, Calif.; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations in Mrs. Swain's memory may be made to "Raise the Roof", c/o Trinity United Methodist Church, 63 Commerce Street, Harrington, DE 19952. Services were private at the convenience of the family. Arr. by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington.
