James T. Lowe

Marydel, MD - James T. Lowe, Sr. 'Uncle Shorty' passed away on Dec. 14, 2014 in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chestertown. Mr. Lowe was born on Nov. 16, 1923 in Prince Edward County, Va., son of the late James Archer Lowe and Mary Lizzie Woodall Lowe. He was a U.S. Army Air Veteran serving during WWII. Jim was working for a contractor on the eastern shore installing rural electric, where he met his wife in Barclay. He later worked for W.B. Mitton Construction and retired to care for his wife. After her death he worked as a handyman. He was an active member of the Barclay Assembly of God and enjoyed camping in the mountains of Va. and W. Va. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Mary E. 'Betty' Seward Lowe in 1978; five sisters, Leona Lowe, Martha Wright, Mary Atkins, Lucille Bates and Geneva Baldwin and his dear friend of 30 years, May White in Jan. 2014. Mr. Lowe is survived by his five children, Elizabeth Deering (Larrie) of Lincoln, Del., J. Thomas 'Tom' Lowe, Jr. (Christy) of Marydel, Dr. John Ronald Lowe of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Donnie Lowe (Eva) of Marydel and Alice Lord (Willie) of Barclay; seven grandchildren, Lee Thomas (Bill), Tony Lowe (Pam), J.T. Lowe, Nicki Lowe, Angie Deering, Brandy Lowe and Rachel Lowe and four great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD., where funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. Burial in Busic Cemetery, Barclay, Md. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
