James Ray Farren Sr.

FRANKFORD - James Ray "Skeeter" Farren, Sr., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md. Skeeter served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Elks Lodge #2173 in Selbyville, Del. and the East Sussex Moose Lodge #2542 in Roxana, Del. He loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. He also loved football. The Eagles were his favorite team. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge "Reds" Farren and Annie (Bates) Farren; and a sister, Ella Mae Murphy. He is survived by his son, James Ray Farren, Jr., and his wife, Sarah; his loving partner of 15 years, Dorothy Hitchens and her children, Chris, Ollie, III, and Laura; four sisters, Nathia Boyles, Linda Farren, Leasa Derrickson and Teresa Metheny; his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately on his birthday, April 11th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. Please send checks to, Melson Funeral Services, P.O. Box 100, Frankford, DE. 19945.
