James R. Williams, 84
James R. Williams, of Harrington, passed away at Bayhealth Sussex Campus, on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021. He was the son of the late Stanley and Sarah Williams.
James, also known as Jim or Rich, was a mechanic at Cook's Tire Center. He was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge #534.
Jim had a passion for playing music, he taught himself to play any string instrument from guitar to violin. He enjoyed playing country and blue grass throughout DE, MD, and VA. Jim was a past president of the Blue Grass Association. He also enjoyed blacksmithing, making everything from lamps to toy tractors out of old sewing machines. Jim enjoyed riding his Harley Heritage Soft -tail, meeting with the "coffee club" at Rudy's Diner daily, and vintage vehicles. He was very proud of his Native American Mohawk and Cherokee background; he was honored to be named Standing Gray Wolf. Jim was a loving and devoted husband who took great care of his wife. He was known to be quick witted, ornery, with a great personality but not afraid to tell it like it is. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents; Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Brown; grandson, Zackery Osteen; siblings, Gloria Cunningham, Ray, Melvin, and Dave Williams.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Williams; children, James R. Williams Jr. (Devra), Mary Butler, Barbara Reynolds (Allen), Susan Walker (Kenny), Timothy Williams (A'anna), Barabara Haar (Robert), and John Stafford (Laura); siblings, Clinton Williams, Doug Williams, and Sylvia McLaughlin; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren with 1 to soon arrive; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
